Child Development

Thousands of families rely on the West Contra Costa YMCA to meet their family's childcare needs. Our goal is to provide an environment and a variety of experiences that help each child reach his or her full potential at every stage of development.

Our 18 licensed childcare programs are nonprofit and nonsectarian, funded in part by the California Department of Education and licensed by Community Care Licensing. Our multicultural developmental programs are designed to meet the needs of the individual child. Our staff meets the standards set by the California Department of Education and the Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing. We aim to provide childcare that allows every child to:

• Make the successful transition from home to school
• Develop interest and joy in learning, self-discipline, responsibility and a positive self-image

We believe that close contact with parents is essential. We offer group parent activities such as seminars, workshops and meetings, as well as individual conferences to ensure harmony between the school and the home.
